EVE TAKES THE FALL
© 2003 words/music Lisa Markley
Born of the garden,
dust to bone
a spare rib
he will never be alone
perhaps an afterthought
too late to be recalled
an ounce of free will
and Eve Takes the Fall
Middle of the garden
one forbidden tree
Serpent's got a plan
peak her curiosity
He says, "What this place needs, is just a mental over haul"
"You think ignorance is bliss, have a taste of this."
and Eve Takes the Fall
Apples, peaches pears, plums
He said "taste it all but one"
Born to heed the Serpent's call
Eve Takes the Fall
Mind overflowing,
soon shares her fate
really shoulda known better
funny how knowledge comes too late
The Maker looks upon them
smiles at it all
"It's really no surprise you haven't chosen wisely
Eve Take the Fall."
Apples peaches pears plums...
Expelled from the garden
on his belly the snake will crawl.
Man will toil, but she will bleed
Eve Takes the Fall.

EASTWARD BOUND
© 2003 words/music Lisa Markley
Eastward bound chasing pieces of sky
Striking the wind again and again I will fly
Cloak me in stardust, crown me in constellations
Lift this burden and fill me with sweet elation
Questioning why, I just had to try
Never mind gravity,
never mind
falling pieces of sky
Eastward bound I'm a shooting star
Wasn't the plan, but wherever you go, there you are
Eighteen times faster than sound
wrap me in wind and in fire still I'm not coming down
Questioning why, I just had to try
never mind gravity
never min Newton and his damn theories
never mind
With your eyes on the stars and both feet on the ground
You say these dreams take me too high, my head's always lost in the clouds
But striking the wind again and again I will fly
Eastward Bound chasing pieces of sky
Eastward Bound chasing pieces of sky

PERIHELIC OPPOSITION OF MARS
© 2003 words/music Lisa Markley
See how brightly Mars resides
So close still so out of reach
out of reach
I lay back and I watch the stars collide
Harmonic spires, intervals so sweet
Intervals so sweet
Only you can reach me now
I could never tell you how the tune goes
Beneath this O'Keeffe sky
perfect rows of white against the blue
against the blue
The clouds go further than the eye can see
I cannot find the path to you
the path to you
Only you can reach me now
I could never tell you how the road goes
I tear apart all the daisies
and I count each petal loves me not
loves me not
This loneliness it will erase me
if you ever loved me I forgot
I forgot
Only you can reach me now,
I could never tell you how you should go
You should go

ON A LIMB
© 2002 words/music Lisa Markley
Sometimes a Sunbeam
it doesn't touch the ground
The last to arrive the first to leave
fades away without a sound
She wanders but she's never lost
Just won't stay in the lines
you wish she would but she's just passing through
she won't be confined
Go ahead and expect the worst
but a sheltered heart is no less broken
than the one who dares believe the best
and dances out on the limb
Hi fights the end, though it's guaranteed
never one to take it in stride
These eyes that are closed, they still can see
and at least he knows you tried
Go ahead and expect the worst...

“Lisa Markley has more depth control and beauty to her voice in a live concert setting than most vocalists get in a studio.
Driving that voice is a soul of wit and intelligence and a heart of gold.” —Paul Slavens, KERA Dallas
